Needs assessments are an important tool in developing and administering public health programs. A good needs assessment provides critical information about community health status; consumer expectations, preferences, and needs; and, community assets that can be directed to improving the health of individuals and communities. This year as State Title V Programs prepare the 2010 Maternal Child Health Block Grant, they also will conduct a comprehensive needs assessment to assess impact of the Title V program and to identify priorities and programs for the next five year period.
